Anthropic opens Seoul office as Claude adoption grows across Korea’s AI ecosystem

Anthropic opened its Seoul office on June 17, 2026 and highlighted Claude deployments across NAVER, Samsung SDS, LG CNS, Nexon, startups, and research groups.

Anthropic announced the opening of its Seoul office on June 17, 2026, alongside new examples of enterprise, startup, research, and nonprofit work across Korea. This is more than a regional office announcement. It shows Claude moving deeper into one of Asia's most technically dense markets.

The company says Korea is among the top dozen countries for Claude.ai use, with much of that activity concentrated in technical and creative work. Anthropic frames the Seoul office as a long-term home for working with the enterprises and developers shaping Korea's AI leadership.

The engineering adoption is especially notable. NAVER has deployed Claude Code across its entire engineering organization, with thousands of engineers using it to diversify coding tools and improve productivity. Nexon engineering teams use Claude Code to write, review, and ship code for live-service games played by millions. That puts Claude Code beyond pilots and into daily engineering work at scale.

Large enterprises are also expanding use. LG CNS is rolling Claude out to thousands of employees and plans broader deployment across LG Group. Hanwha Solutions is bringing Claude to global employees through AWS Bedrock while meeting strict in-region data-residency and security requirements. Samsung SDS is deploying Claude across Samsung Electronics, including Claude Cowork and Claude Code for knowledge work, agentic workflows, and software development.

Startups are embedding Claude directly into products. Channel Corp uses Claude inside Channel Talk, its customer AI platform, to resolve customer inquiries and analyze service and sales data. The platform is used by more than 230,000 companies across Korea, Japan, and the United States. That shows Claude becoming customer-facing product infrastructure, not only internal productivity software.

Research and nonprofit deployments are also part of the picture. Anthropic will provide Claude access to up to 60 researchers affiliated with the National AI Research Lab, supporting work on AI safety, model evaluation, alignment, and robustness. Good Neighbors Korea is using Claude to help staff analyze program outcomes, navigate welfare law and internal guidelines, and reduce administrative workload.

Overall, the Seoul move shows model companies becoming regional ecosystem participants rather than only global API providers. Future competition will not be only about benchmark scores. It will be about who can work deeply with local enterprises, developers, researchers, and governed deployments to turn AI into sustainable workflow capability.
