Similarweb launches AI Ads for visibility into ChatGPT and AI search advertising

Similarweb's AI Ads adds ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, and AI Overviews to Ad Intelligence so marketers can inspect creatives, landing pages, and advertisers.

On August 13, 2026, Similarweb launched AI Ads inside Ad Intelligence, covering ads in ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, and Google AI Overviews. The product is not primarily an ad generator. It is a visibility layer for the actual creative, landing pages, and advertisers appearing in those surfaces. Similarweb connects the new channel to the search, display, and social advertising data it already tracks.

The context is that AI search does not operate like a simple keyword-bidding page. Similarweb says ChatGPT ad delivery is shaped by conversation context, the strength of the ad copy, and the landing page. That interpretation and the product data come from Similarweb. Teams should distinguish between being able to see an ad and being able to prove that a creative produces better conversion.

At launch, AI Ads includes ad creative libraries showing the actual ads running in ChatGPT rather than modeled metrics, together with the landing pages receiving the traffic. Filters cover domain, platform, time range, and country, giving marketers a way to inspect how competitor messaging changes across a market or category.

Similarweb says AI Ads is native to Ad Intelligence, so the new observations connect to existing search, display, and social ad data. That can improve workflow: a team studying AI search can compare the same competitor's conventional acquisition strategy, creative, and landing page without moving the work into a separate tool or dataset.

The ChatGPT and Google AI ad surfaces are still early. Similarweb says ChatGPT coverage includes the top 10,000 US advertisers at launch and will expand continuously. That is a vendor-reported coverage boundary, not a guarantee that every market, account, or conversation is observable. Sampling, latency, and platform changes will affect competitive analysis.

For marketing teams, the first use of AI Ads should be reconnaissance rather than copying competitors. Start by cataloging recurring messages, landing-page structures, brand promises, and appearance patterns. Then test those observations against your own audience, margins, compliance constraints, and conversion data. Seeing another advertiser appear does not mean the same copy will work in your own conversational context.

The broader signal is that AI search is creating a new layer of marketing measurement and creative intelligence. As ads move from fixed result pages into contextual conversations and summaries, brands need to manage prompt context, ad language, landing pages, conversion tracking, and intent together. Similarweb provides an observation tool; business impact still has to be established through the company's own experiments, attribution, and cost data.
